Success

It's about noon in DC and we're awaiting the boarding call on SAA208. We all have boarding passes, the luggage has been transferred from United to South African Air, and there's actually a plane already docked at the gate!

We were able to talk to Mike before he boarded our original flight yesterday. So we know he and Gene and Ron are already in Johannesburg. Tomorrow AM we will be there too! We are certainly ready. Thanks for your supportive thoughts and prayers.

Yeeebo!

  • Dear Friends,

Your trip is lending new meaning to the plaintive cry:
    "Are we there yet?????"

Hope all are doing ok with the extended travel time. Continued prayers for Stevie and all of you as you carry the rest of us to greet the people of Swaziland. Hang in there.

  • The blog looks FABULOUS!!! I am so looking forward to reading every single post!

I'm sure that all of you will arrive safely in Mbabane eventually, and that our dear Swazi friends will take good care of you from the moment you step off the plane in J'burg. They are such gracious hosts!

Mike Kinman from Episcopalians for Global Reconciliation sends his greetings. He says, "Hooray -- you all are in our prayers!"

  • I have vivid memories of traveling incessantly to Swaziland. We hoped you would be spared the delay we had in Frankfurt. I guess you got it in DC. At least you had a bed. I am hoping you are there by now, weary, but happy and thoroughly bonded! You have been in my prayers all this Day of Mary Magdalene.

  • In today's gospel, Jesus' disciples gathered up 12 baskets of leftover abundance from the feeding of the 5000. It seems that each of the 12 disciples was given a symbol of their mission that day - to take of the abundance of Christ's compassion and continue the work of seeking out the lost, the hurting, and the hopeless. I pray for your work among the people of Swaziland. May God the Father bless the work of your hands as you spread the Gospel in the flesh.

    Peace,
    Darin+

  • Isn't it wonderful to realise that Companions really are folk who share their bread? Your experiences in Swaziland bring that home to this Companion from Brechin. Bless you all!
